This method widely used also in other fields, like geology and anthropology, is based on the subjective matching between the real color and its standardized version on Munsell chart.
For preventing many possible errors caused by the subjectivity of the system itself, in this paper an automatic method of color detection on selected regions of digital images of archaeological pottery is presented.
